Welcome back to Jewelry Design Basics everyone.

To date, we have been exploring the tools, media and design fundamentals

Now we are ready to take a look at fashion forecasts and trends for 2020.

We can use these forecasts to our advantage when we design our collections and lines this year.

These trends and forecasts influence our customer’s buying decisions and therefore, as designers, we should consider them when we design.

In this post, we are going to explore Color trends and palettes for Spring and Summer 2020.

Let’s start with the Color of the Year, chosen by the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone Color of the Year 2020

For over 20 years, the Pantone Color Institute has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design.

The Pantone Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences.

This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, play styles, and socioeconomic conditions.

Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.

Introducing Classic Blue

Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.

Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.

A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience, aids concentration and bringing laser like clarity, and re-centers our thoughts.

Our reliance on Pantone doesn’t stop with the color of the year. Pantone offers a wide variety of color trend tools to aid designers  throughout the year.

They also provide color forecasts and trends for Seasonal Designing.

In the fashion world, these forecasts and trends are announced well in advance to give designers ample time to prepare their designs, obtain supplies and produce their samples and products.

So we already have the color trend forecast for Spring and Summer of 2020.
